The KATIWALA micro film is set in some of the last remaining virgin forest of the Philippines, in the Mount Kitanglad Range Natural Park (MKRNP), located in Bukidnon, Northern Mindanao. MKRNP is an ancestral domain and ASEAN Heritage Park.
It is ecologically and culturally significant, being the home to endemic flora and fauna, and the ancestral domain of local indigenous communities.
The Philippine eagle, one of the world's rarest, largest and most powerful forest raptors live in MKRNP. According to the International Union for Conservation of Nature (IUCN), they are critically endangered with an estimated number of only 400 pairs left in the wild.
